Japanese media conglomerate Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, recently released its financial earnings report. In the full-year forecast section of its game segment, the company offered insight into its fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.
The forecast specifically called out FromSoftware’s planned release of Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, which launches on August 25. However, there was no specific mention of Shadow of the Erdtree in the current fiscal year.
Instead, the DLC for Elden Ring is mentioned in the “medium to long term direction” for the game segment. The company notes: “We are now developing DLC that will contribute to the enhancement of the Elden Ring franchise. We are pursuing the maximization of profit by prolonging the life of IP.”
This would seemingly suggest that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion won’t be released until at least April 2024, which would be about two years since Elden Ring’s original launch in February 2022.
FromSoftware hasn’t offered any additional details about Shadow of the Erdtree since it was first announced earlier this year. With a possible release date of next year, it might be a while before we see anything official. All of the focus will likely be on the upcoming launch of Armored Core VI.
