Elden Ring challenges players to more than a few incredible boss fights, but which ones are the best of the best?

When Elden Ring finally released in February 2022, it blew us away. It’s been quite some time since a game went above and beyond our expectations like this one did.

One of the things Elden Ring does best is its boss fights. Despite already being a notoriously difficult game, the title dials things up a notch for its biggest threats.

And there are a staggering number of Elden Ring boss fights in total!

But that didn’t stop this speedrunner from defeating all Elden Ring bosses in under 10 hours!

Recently, the game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed his personal favorite Elden Ring bosses.

Elden Ring Best Bosses Ranked

5 – Radagon and Elden Beast

Starting off with the final boss of Elden Ring itself, Radagod of the Golden Order is waiting for you by the Elden Throne, wielding the very hammer that shattered the Elden Ring.

But not only do players need to defeat this god among men, but they must also take on the Elden Beast right afterward! The true form of the Elden Ring, the Elden Beast acts as your final obstacle before you enact one of Elden Ring’s six possible endings.

Both boss fights are challenging tests of skill, without too much complexity to worry about. And they’re an epic end to your Elden Ring journey.

4 – Malenia, Blade of Miquella

When we saw that the Elden Ring collector’s edition came with a statue of Malenia and a replica of her helmet, we knew she’d be an incredible boss fight. But surprisingly enough, this battle is actually completely optional in Elden Ring.

We’re sure a lot of players are happy with that decision, as the Blade of Miquella is one of the hardest bosses that FromSoftware has ever created. With rapid attacks, incredible range, and insane damage, Malenia is a truly memorable boss encounter – and one that’ll take the average player a lot of time to finally overcome.

This is also the boss fight that Elden Ring legend ‘Let Me Solo Her‘ became famous for defeating. Now, the scourge of Malenia has beaten the boss over 1000 times, helping players take down the nightmarish encounter.

3 – Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

Deep in the depths of Volcano Manor lies Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. The true form of the God-Devouring Serpent, Rykard’s boss fight has two phases that have you battling atop a field of corpses.

Visually, this is one of the game’s best-looking boss fights, made even more memorable by its excellent accompanying soundtrack. On top of that, players are even given a unique weapon, the Serpent-Hunter Great Spear, with which to do battle.

All things combined, this two-in-one boss fight is one of Elden Ring’s shining moments. It easily deserves its spot in our top 3.

2 – Dragonlord Placidusax

In one of Elden Ring’s final areas, Crumbling Farum Azula, the game ramps up its difficulty one final time. And here, the bravest of players can take on one of the game’s toughest bosses: Dragonlord Placidusax.

This huge two-headed dragon has been waiting for a challenge in the heart of the storm beyond time, and it certainly lives up to its reputation as the lord of all dragons.

Placidusax is capable of harnessing both fire and lightning in his fight against the Tarnished. And, particularly in its second phase, this Elden Ring boss fight offers some of the flashiest AOE attacks the game has to offer.

1 – Starscourge Radahn

Starscourge Radahn is our pick for Elden Ring’s best boss fight for several reasons. Firstly, this epic battle takes place in one of the largest arenas we’ve ever fought in.

What’s more, you don’t have to go it alone, summoning a small army of NPCs to do battle alongside you. But even that isn’t enough to stop Radahn, who takes you all on while canonically holding back the stars themselves with his powerful gravitational magic.

It’s worth noting that the mighty warrior initially studied the magical arts so as not to abandon his scrawny but beloved steed, who he rides into battle.

Radahn is capable of one-shotting many builds with a single mighty arrow, yet he’s not the hardest fight the game has to offer. But we’ll always remember our first victory against him.
