how can i get a pet in Lost Ark? is it important to have a pet ? does it give any special stats ?

There is a pet quest just beginning of the main questline. just follow the main quest you will see the pet quest as well.

You need to finish a quest in order to have a pet the quest is "[Guide] Learning About Pets" quest.
When you finish the quest press "Alt + P" to open up the pet menu.
and Of course you can buy different fancy pets in cash shop like every other MMO games.
Pets are account wide in NA/Europe servers btw...
