GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Three Linden High School gamers won the state championship in Rocket League competition in the Michigan High School Esports League’s spring 2023 season.
Championship matches were held at Western Michigan University’s Esports Arena on Saturday, April 29. More than 80 students across the state of Michigan competed in the championship round, according to a news release from MHSEL.
Linden was one of three high school programs that earned top honors in the three games: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rocket League and League of Legends.
Nicholas Miller, a Linden High junior and Rocket League player, was on the championship-winning team.
There were 93 schools that participated in the Michigan High School Esports League with nearly 400 teams across the three games with more than 1,300 students participating this season.
