United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that this turning point in total population should bring all countries together to jointly protect this unique world. He emphasized that the Earth needs more protection as it is the only living space for humans. He also added that the reduction of human deaths and the prolongation of life by medicine are also effective in this regard.

The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs predicts that the world’s population is growing at its slowest pace since 1950, with many developing countries already experiencing marked declines in birth rates, but eight countries will account for more than half of the population in the next few decades.

The overall population growth according to country is Congo, Ethiopia, Egypt, Nigeria, and Tanzania in Africa, and India, Pakistan, and the Philippines in Asia.

The region with the largest population in the world this year is mainly distributed in Asia, with a total of 2.3 billion people living in East Asia and Southeast Asia, mainly China with a population of about 1.4 billion, and 2.1 billion people living in South Asia and Central Asia, of which the Indian population With a population of about 1.4 billion, it is estimated that India will officially surpass China in early 2023 to become the most populous country in the world.
