According to A research, Facebook is used by only one-third of American teens

According to the Pew Research Center, the proportion of Americans aged 13-17 who visit Facebook has dropped from 71% in 2015 to 32% in 2022.

According to a study published by the Pew Research Center, YouTube and TikTok will be the top entertainment platforms (excluding video games) by American teens in 2022, while Facebook’s popularity among teens has plummeted in a few years. The research center announced that Americans aged 13-17 visit Facebook, which dropped from 71% in 2015 to 32% in 2022.

TikTok is a tough competitor

TikTok is used “sometimes” by 67% of teenagers in the United States and “almost constantly” by 16%.

Chinese group ByteDance’s mobile app was only released internationally in 2017, but its short and captivating videos, which are sorted to everyone’s taste with powerful algorithms, are experiencing phenomenal success during the pandemic, augmented by limitations. The platform competes fiercely with networks that have to adapt in order not to give up too much ground.

Youtube is the best in America

  • 95% of American teens say they use YouTube. The number of 13-17 year olds using Instagram has increased from 52% (since 2015) to 62%, and Snapchat is right behind with 59% compared to 41% seven years ago. Meta’s boss Mark Zuckerberg said last February; “People have many options to pass the time. And apps like TikTok are growing very fast”.

The social media giant presented unpleasant results after losing users for the first time on its historical platform Facebook. TikTok, for its part, believes it’s not playing on the same pitch.

Blake Chandlee, a senior practice executive, said in an interview with CNBC in June; “We are an entertainment platform”. “Facebook is a social platform” added the leader, who spent 12 years at Facebook. “Their main job is their algorithms based on social relations”.
