Apple continues to advance in the repairability of its devices. Apple, which has long been accused of not allowing its smartphones to be repaired, continues to slowly open up to repairers.
Apple plans to make a new statement that will make these repairs even easier. Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will soon be able to fix Face ID. On iPhone XS or newer, this issue will be fixed without having to replace the entire device.
Access to the Face ID module
“Authorized Techs” will soon have access to spare components to replace the front camera, as well as components needed for Face ID to work.
A tool will be available to know if this replacement can be made. For customers, Face ID module repairs will be more cost-effective than replacing the entire unit.
